Once again thank you! Both of you did a great under cover job (pun intended) ? the quality was good and the content was great as always
haha, thanks! ?
Great idea for a podcast, guys. It’s true that the hardest thing about being a whole foods vegan is seeing your non-vegan friends and family get progressively sicker.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for listening 🙂
I can relate to this so hard!! I had the worst eczema before I went vegan. It was so bad I had to bandage my arm (where the eczema was) so that I wouldn’t scratch it in my sleep, but I would wake up in the middle of the scratching anyway. It was so bad sometimes that it would bleed! I also had terrible sinus issues, profuse sweating, and geez I never thought about all of these until now…
Coffee has become an epidemic in Australia and I’m part of the culture, I’m definitely addicted. I could save up and go on a tour of LA with you guys with the money I could save from coffee ? Amazing all these ailments you no longer have due to a healthy vegan diet. You never hold back with your content, great vid, I’m sure it will inspire many. Thanks Natasha and Luca for sharing, you two always make me smile ?
Easy fix! For the next 5 months, ditch the coffee, up the cheap as chips oatmeal, rice, potatoes, and beans, and come join us on the LA tour! 😉 Seriously though, thanks for all your awesome support of our podcast Brenda, we really appreciate it! 🙂 xoxo
I can relate. I’m 55 next month. Wait until you reach that age! 🙂 Before I went vegan a few yers ago I was on two medications I was told I’d be on for the rest of my life. One for high blood pressure and one for high cholesterol. I’ve had two best friends die already and I have family of the same age who are riddled with health complaints from arthritis to diabetes and all are overweight. Although I have people say how well I look now (I’ve lost a lot of weight and am a lot more muscular) they just take no notice when I say it’s all due to the vegan diet. I get so frustrated with people!
We’re so happy for you Dale 🙂 If only all men your age followed your lead the world would be a totally different place. Thanks for going against the grain. Yes, the frustration is real that’s for sure! Thanks for listening and for sharing your story here with others 🙂
I’ve been 100% whole food plant based for a little over 3 months. Massive changes as a result. I initially started to reduce inflammation and quickly stayed for all the amazing benefits. In a few months I hit the big 6-5! and feel better than I have in a long time. And… I already felt pretty good, but this if off the charts.
I run and my endurance is improving as are the distances I go.
The greatest benefit is the compassion for animals. As someone who is very into being kind to animals, I can say, with 100% certainty, no animal will pass my lips ever again other than for a kiss.
I really enjoy the two of you. Your humor, perspective, and insights are awesome
Hi Kathleen, thanks so much for listening and commenting 🙏 Sorry for the late reply! For some reason we must have missed your comment at the time and have only now come across it! Glad you’re enjoying the show 🙂 That’s so great to hear about the benefits you’ve experienced switching to WFPB. How wonderful to have made the change at 65 – hope your contemporaries notice your benefits, get jealous, and ask you how you did it 😉
Wonderful to hear that veganism (and a healthier lifestyle on whole) has made such drastic posotive changes in your health!
I have seen some awesome improvements as well…
Before I was vegan I suffered with constipation on a daily basis. It wasn’t uncommon to go 3 days without taking a shit. While I was lucky that I never felt physically sick from it, I did experience pretty severe stomach aches daily. And then, of course, actually passing the stool was never easy (enter: squatty potty; a great product). But even with that, it only helped a bit. I carried stomqch ache medicine in my purse and took it daily (like Tums and stuff). Everyone knew that I was the one to ask if they had a stomach ache because I always had meds. My stomach was also nervous; if I felt anxious, I would get a stomach ache and have to sit in the restroom for a while, often with diarrhea.
I also had headaches daily. It had gotten to the point where I was taking migrane medication every day. Another pill I stocked up in my purse.
My skin has always been very fair and sensitive to heat, sun, and stress. I would flush bright red at the most minor stressor, or of in direct sunlight or warmth for more than a few minutes. The splotchy redness was on my face, ears, neck, chest, shoulders, and upper arms; sometimes my stomach. It was embarassing; people always noticed and would point it out, asking if I was ok which, of course, only embarassed me more, causing more stress and brighter redness that would take longer to go away. Sometimes I would have the redness all day, even if thr stressor or heat was removed hors earlier. I could also feel the heat, though it was not usually itchy.
My period cramping was a struggle. So much so that I kept on birth control longer than I wanted just to keep it away. Periods lasted 5-7 days and were irregular and hard to track.
I have been vegan since July 2018, so about 8mo now. I went off birth control in Sept. 2018 as well.
Within only 2-3 weeks of eating 100% vegan, my stomach aches were completely gone. No more constipation (daily passing now, always easy..so fast sometimes that my boyfriend thinks I went in for a just a pee lol). This is the most appreciated change brcause it had the most impact on my life before. I am so incredibly grateful and am always excited to share this with people who ache after eating. My nervous stomach is also so minor that it doesn’t force me into the restroom anymore and is usually just a wave of discomfort and then, poof, gone.
My headaches are completely gone. The only time I ever get headaches now is if I don’t drink enough water. Then I treat with water, and it goes away like magic. No pill needed.
My skin still burns easy in the sun (I am still fair, after all) but the flushung has minimized to the point where it only flares if a major stressor comes up, such as if I am crying (or holding in tears lol). I never feel the heat of it anymore, so the embarrassment is lower (necause feeling it and knowing it was there was a trigger to make it worse).
My periods are amazing. Weird thing to say about a period, I know. But I experience maybe 1 minor cramp the day nefore it starts (a little warning system) and that it it. No pain throughout. Only very minor bloating of my tummy, and very minor sensitivity to emotional situations (I might cry a bit easier at a movie and whatnot). Flow is also shorter, usually 4-5 days, and lighter. I also use Thinx undies, which are quite brilliant as well (very few tampons/pads are ever used). Even when I do use tampons, I don’t get that extra cramping that I used to when I used them before.
I also find it easier to remain slender. I was never a big girl, always quite petite, but I woupd fluctuate 5-10lbs depending on my diet one week to the next, which looks like a decent amount at my short 5’1″ height. Now I remain consistent around 115 lbs without feeling hungry, because I eat whenever I want (p.s. I am now WFPB/Raw…just vegan)
I swear it has been like magic. I went vegan when I saw the horror of the industry, and now to feel this amazing (without changing anything in my lifestyle but my diet) has been the best prize I could have ever hoped for. I am actually tearing up talking about it; what a huge impact this has made on my average 31 year old life.
