We live a fairly transient life and our recent move made us reassess all the stuff we own. Whilst preparing for our move, we were knee-deep in boxes and felt like minimalist failures! What and why are we still holding onto stuff??
To give you a better visual of what we recently traveled with, here’s a picture of all our stuff. In this podcast episode, we forgot to mention the fan box … which we also squeezed a wok into! Oh, and the two big backpacks also contain our towels and bedding.
We’re thinking of recording another episode about Minimalism – talking more about what it means to us and some of the more difficult items we’ve let go of over the years.
If you’d like to hear those stories and more on this topic, let us know in the comments below these notes. And please leave us any questions you might have too.

I really enjoyed this episode, it’s so interesting to think about these things more. I never used to consider where the stuff I buy comes from and how much I consume, but in recent years I’ve become more aware of minimalism and have definitely made some changes. Thanks for the discussion, much appreciated.
You’re most welcome Sally, we’re glad to hear about your awareness and the changes you’ve made as a result. Thank you for listening and commenting 🙂
Really liked that episode. The documentary ‘the true cost’ was my wake-up call . Keep up the good work 🙂 Much love from Germany!
Glad you enjoyed it Sabine, and thank you for listening and commenting 🙂 We know of that documentary and that it has been the wake-up call for others too, so thanks for sharing it here xo
i love this podcast! it really hits home! This passed year when we moved, i was so overwhelmed with CRAP that we had at home. I was just feed up! I grabbed all the things we needed and packed it up. The rest of the items, we posted online that we were moving and for people to come by and pick up and everything must go. People were stopping by to pick up movies, and our couches, our microwave, and blankets. I mean…how many blankets do you really need in a household of 3?? lol You guys really inspired me! Thank you!
I love you, Luca and Natasha! And please do more episodes and YouTube videos on minimalism- this is extremely interesting to me, as I too am married to the minimalist lifestyle!

I love your podcasts. I listen to them all the time. I love your insight on all the topics you discuss. You are part of the reason im going vegan. I will be tuning into your live stream tomorrow!
i loved this episode! but i do have to disagree about fidget spinners, as a college student with severe anxiety i really find it useful for ‘making my hands busy’ while studying and it helped me to stop smoking, leave my fingernails alone and my overall concentration improved. sooo dont just write it off as a stupid plastic toy, it helped a lot of people 🙂
But if we don’t buy stuff, then manufacturers won’t hire the folks who make all this junk. Poverty will be even worse! Isn’t the real issue the inequitable distribution of wealth, and the systematic exploitation of people (and animals!) who simply were born in the wrong place? I like the Amish tradition of everyone in a community helping to build people homes. How can we help the world’s poor achieve true financial freedom. I think engineers/product designers and entrepreneurs should think of their job as how to create sustainable business models of success for all stakeholders, including the lowest paid employee.(In the meanwhile, I’m holding on to my smartphone and my inexpensive running shoes. The True Cost is so horrifying, but what are we supposed to do? Boycotting does nothing).
I watched the documentary ‘ The True Cost ‘ and that really made me aware of what I purchase. It’s so hard though to know if you’re buying ethically made products. I’ve been decluttering my home, so much you accumulate over the years that just gets stuffed in cupboards and never gets used. You guys are amazing though, you really do practice what you preach. Can’t imagine ever being able to fit my belongings into a taxi ? Enjoyed the podcast, thank you for sharing and I’m going to watch Last Train Home.
Yes, ‘The True Cost’ has brought great awareness to many people. As you say ethically made products are few and far between, which is yet another benefit of living a more minimalist lifestyle, as it reduces our overall consumption. Thanks Brenda – we’re very big believers in walking one’s talk. Glad to hear you’re going to watch Last Train Home – it’s both enlightening and heartbreaking. Much love xo
I love hearing about minimalism, gets me re-inspired to consume less every time. Constant hunting for unnecessary things and throwing things away can also be very addicting 😀
Glad to hear the discussion re-inspired you to consume less. Thanks for listening and commenting 🙂
Hey guys, greetings from Portugal! Loving earing your podcasts! But I can’t ear this podcast about minimalist because I can’t find the player! I tried in my smartphone and in my computer and it don’t show.
