This episode was inspired by a conversation we listened to between Russel Brand and Simon Amstell about their use of conscience altering drugs to get a better insight into some of life’s bigger questions.
Their conversation made us think about several of our own experiences, including a “plant medicine” ceremony in South America, and the time we thought we joined a cult in India!

Love Your HOLY GHOST Moment?! So glad You shared this Story.. BEAUTIFUL!
Thanks Jodie, glad you enjoyed it 🙂
(Sorry for the long post!) Really interesting episode. I’ve never felt the need to take an mind altering drugs/plant medicines but I find the topic intriguing. I’ve talked to a handful of people in depth about there experiences in South America taking those types of drugs and it seems to fall in to two categories: 1) it was awful: the vomiting, loss of control, vulnerability, fear or 2) must do it again: purging out the demons, feeling spiritually clean, revisiting old wounds. However something that I can never wrap my head around when I’ve spoken to people who “enjoyed” the experience and have done it multiple times is, if it’s such an incredible cleaning/purging/freeing experience where all the bad is drawn out…why the need to do it again and again? Sure if it was to work, you’d only need to do it once and move forward with a fresh slate? To claim it is not a drug, but feel the need to chase the high again and again. Doesn’t make sense to me. And don’t even get me started on the watering down of cultural heritage and religious tradition in the name of bringing wide-eyed tourist from the West looking to find themselves! I don’t know, I feel that too many of us are focused on finding “an answer”, but really there isn’t one. We can have as many questions as we want, but the universe is under no obligation to tell us or give us anything. Be where you are and try to do your best, be good to others and spend some time outside every day. Looking inward, checking in with yourself and self love is wonderful, but it can’t be the only way you look at life or you miss out on all the amazing people and things around you. Having balance is so important. Life isn’t easy but if it was, it’d sure be boring!
Very interesting comment! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.
I love you guys, keep it up. Your voices are soo soothing.

Had a great laugh listening to your stories! Really loved the part about the ego and its definitely on my mind all the time, especially when i am helping someone or doing a good deed, thoughts and questions come to mind such as why i am actually doing it, but then i remember that the important thing is to just enjoy it. Keep making the podcasts, i enjoy them very much. You guys are so funny, energetic and send such positive vibes. Thank you!
Thank you Laura, glad this episode gave people a good laugh along with lots to think about 😉 Thanks for the feedback x And interesting to hear what goes on in your mind too … I think we can all relate to that.
I LOVE your podcast as much as the yt channel if not more. You guys inspired me to adopt a vegan lifestyle and I have learned so much from you. I really enjoy listening to the podcast while at work. It gives me inner peace. Great job and keep up the great content!
AWESOME to hear this!! Thank you so much xo
Hey guys! I really appreciate you sharing your experiences and wisdom, goes further than you can imagine. I apologize in advance for the long comment! In regards to medicinal plants, I personally have experienced with Psilocybin mushrooms and Dimethyltryptamine aka DMT, and just as you guys expressed, it’s quite challenging to put into words but the experience really gives you a new perspective where “now” is all that matters and I just felt as if all my questions had been answered. It was definitely a very spiritual experience for me as thankfully I didn’t suffer from any of the negative side effects other than a bit of a funny feeling in my stomach which is common to feel when consuming mushrooms. Overall, the psilocybin mushrooms experience was a very visual and positive one. Yet again, I did experience it in a location I like to call my happy place, a musical and spiritual festival called Electric Forest. Purely magical place! I know it’s bias but it really is one of the happiest places on Earth. The DMT experience was interesting to say the least. Quite overwhelming and would probably never do it again, but it left me in a state where I understood a lot more about myself and the history of this planet. Saw hiroglyphics, the trees spoke to me and all. My life after that has never been the same. Fast forward to today, it plays a major role with who I am today and the little things that make me happy. Thanks for sharing your lives with us, you guys put a smile on my face! By the way, Luca, in the past I had come across a video where you shared about Candida and in this episode you did mention about a fast you experimented with. I myself am a Candida sufferer and currently am on a cleanse but not a fast. Practically I make sure not to take more than 20 glycemic load points per meal and no more than 100 glycemic load points a day. I have eliminated all sugar from my diet, all starchy vegetables, fruits, etc and my meals consist of mainly non glutinous grains, non-starchy vegetables, nuts and seeds, natural anti-fungals and so on. I have a weekly meal plan set to go. It’s a day-by-day process but so far I am having positive results and would soon be seeing a naturopath to make sure I am doing what’s healthiest for me. I’m not exactly sure what your condition was nor your story but I would LOVE if you can touch a bit more on this maybe on one of your podcasts since there doesn’t seem to be much constructive guidance or relative curing methods on the internet. Where are you at with it now, have you overcome it, if so, how, and what else do you know based of your personal experience? I have been dealing with recurring symptoms for over 2 years now and just now have been able to have some relief thanks to my diet change and the decision to stop ingesting oral contraceptives since they have all these synthetic hormones and estrogen that mess with the ph balance. Would love to hear what you have to say. Much love and light to you guys!
Hi Denise, thanks for your detailed comment… interesting experience. As for Luca’s candida, he made this video about it years ago (terrible quality, good information) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7J5JECK5uM …basically, he ate a high carb, low fat vegan diet and eliminated all overt fats like oils, nuts, and seeds (his total fat intake was around 5 – 10%). It’s similar to insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes… carbs are only a problem when there is a build up of fat inside the muscle cells. He started with a high fruit diet and the candida went away after about 3 months. We have continued eating high carb, low fat and gradually increased our fats (to around 10 – 15%), and he is still good. We now focus more on whole starches rather than fruit, but the whole point is that it’s high carb and low fat. Please watch that video to learn more.
You two amuse me to no end! I was laughing along with you…pretty sure my kids think I’m nuts lmao. Thank you for sharing your journey…I haven’t been to far from home and always wanted to travel. awesome! 😉
haha, glad we could entertain 😉 Thanks so much and really happy you’re enjoying the show. x
Always enjoy listening about your life experiences. Found it interesting about the voluntary work you both did and was wondering if you could give me the names of the places you helped out at. I’m interested in doing something like this. Also do you think it’s a safe environment where you volunteered as I think I’d be travelling on my own. Thanks for the podcast and hope moving house has gone smoothly ✌️
